The forest was surrounded by darkness. The only light this place offered was the eerie blue glow of the cresent moon. In the forbidding shadows, a she-wolf lay waiting in perfect stillness and utter silence. Clouds of white smoke came from her muzzle as her breath hit the cold winter air. She lay her ears flat against her head and keeping low nearly on her belly, crept closer towards a clearing. surrounded by tall oak trees.
There alone stood a small red deer doe scraping the ground with her hoofs to reach the small tuffts of crisp grass that lay underneath. She seemed unaware of the wolf's presence and didn't even look up when Yami snapped a twig under a large paw. The wolf tensed her muscles and put all her weight on her paws ready to attack her prey. A wolf wouldn't usually hunt alone, but Yami wasn't too fond of company and prefered to do things solo. She opened her mouth revealing large white canines dripping with saliva. She allowed the deers alluring scent to flood into her senses which made her even more eager to jump on the creature. The she-wolf Closed her eyes to distract herself and gain some more patience. When she was ready, she made sure the creatures head was down and let out a snarl. Within seconds of noticing the sound the doe shot up it's head and sprang away on long legs. But Yami was quicker, and suddenly sprang with dream-like grace and dug her fangs into the animal's neck and dragged it down to the snow-swept floor.
Blood began to seep into the ground turning the white snow red with blood-stain. Yami wasted no time and lunged into the animals thick hide and in no time her muzzle hair was covered in blood and goor as she greedily feasted on it. This was her first meal in eight days and probably would be her only meal for many more days after. In winter prey was so scarce and difficult for a lone-wolf to bring down since it took up so much energy which she already was dangerously short of. And if any wolf or wolf pack scented this they would no doubt challenge her for it. Yami looked up , eyes alert and ears thingyed forward scanning the forest for any signs of other wolves.

Karvine sniffed the air, licking her nose and flicking her ears back at the cold air that hit it. She watched the doe from a distance in the shadows of a large tree as it grazed, picking at pitiful grass beneath frozen ground.
Dull eyes switching from the doe and then to a strange wolf, stalking it, Karvine watched, wondering if it would get its prey. Staying downwind she sniffed the air and lowered herself to the ground, making sure she was totally hidden from the glow of the moon and eyes of the she wolf. Her belly rumbled, though she had eaten only hours earlier and her mouth watered when the she wolf made her move, attacked and killed the doe.
Karvine rose slowly, judging the other wolf and thinking about her chances of taking the deer. She knew it would be cruel to do so, but food was scarce and she never knew when she was going to get another meal. But the other wolf seemed bigger than her and larger than her slighter frame. Maybe if she could appear bigger and more confident than she was currently feeling, it may work.
Making up her mind, the wolf left her position and padded calmly towards the kill, head raised and tail high, showing her authority.

Yami's nostrils were filled with the over-powering smell of deer and she didn't notice the presence of the other wolf straight away. The large wolf tore another scrap of meat from her prey and chewed it hastily. She then turned her head up to the moon and sat up for a few seconds to make sure her quick meal had gone down. Although she savoured every bite as if it was her last she didn't want to spend to much time and wanted to get as much as she could from the deer carcus.
Yami suddenly flinched as she heard snow a few tail-lengths from her crunch under paws. Yami looked to see a confident wolf stood there looking at her. Her heart pounded in her chest as she realised this she-wolf un-doubtedly wanted to take her prey. Standing up and all fours showing her competition what she was up against she stared at the other wolf with challenge in her amber eyes. Even though the she-wolf was bigger than her this wolf looked well fit and healthy unlike herself, this being her first real meal in a long time. Yami was debating with herself whether to simply give up the rest of her food, or talk the other wolf into leaving. Yami was a wise wolf and narrowed her eyes in thought as she faced the other creature. She shook up her fur against the cold and secretly fluffed it up to make herself appear even larger than she was. She finally stepped forward over the deer and stood between this new animal and her food.
" Greetings stranger , can I ask why a well fed and fat creature like yourself would lust for another she-wolfs newly caught food " she said in a low tone with a snarl in her tone. Yami didn't really mean this wolf was fat but in comparisson to herself her stomach was larger because of her recent meals. By the way she stood Yami wondered if this wolf had some authority and was she perhaps in a pack?

Karvine watched the other wolf eat hurriedly and finally notice her. Though she had her doubts when she saw the she wolf fluff up her fur to appear bigger and was quite surprised at her actual size. She held her head higher and gazed into the amber eyes, patiently listening to the wolf as she spoke. taken aback by the weight comment but realising she meant it indifferently, Karvine stepped towards her.
Only tiny steps, but still covering ground, she came to a stop mere centimetres from the canine. Matching the snarl of her counterpart, Karvine faced her down and backed up slightly, resisting the urge to fight. "It merely being the fact that I like eating and this seems the perfect opportunity to obtain food." She all but growled, wondering if the wolf would react the same way to finding out she was an alpha. Though probably not as she was quite small compared to most wolves, but her temper was ferocious and she supposed that was why she had managed to keep her position. "Anyway why not leave and find another deer to kill? I am sure there is a herd on the flat lands. Although there are quite a few nasty bucks guarding them. Should be easy enough for a loner such as yourself. " Karvine finished, feeling slightly cold about herself for having said such a thing. With an apology on the tip of her tongue, she held it back, remembering that she was trying to take a kill.

Yami began to feel herself become more enraged at the strangers tone and clenched her teeth as she listened to the she-wolf's words. She raised her head higher and stepped even closer to the other animal narrowing her eyes hostily.
" You obviously have a pack to serve you she-wolf, why not ask thier help before you go scavaging from other wolves who have to make thier own way in the world instead of relying on bigger wolves to do all thier work for them. And on what grounds do you tell me where and what to hunt? " She snarled now annoyed with the she-wolf. Yami suddenly turned her back on the other animal and plunged her mouth into the deers rib-cage pulling out an organ roughly. She growled and suddenly slung the deer heart down towards the other she-wolf she it landed just beside her. The organ began to messily leak blood on the snow turning it crimson red.
" But if your that hungry, feel free ". Yami meant this as an insult to the other wolf and a small arragant grin appeared across her muzzle as she stepped back infront of the wolf.

Karvine's anger began to build up as the other wolf finished and turned her back on the alpha. All feelings of apologies and regrets were gone as the organ was slung towards her and she snarled, temper rising.
"You're right, I do have a pack that can hunt for me, so I don't know why i'm wasting my time on a loner like you." With an annoyed flick of her tail, Karvine turned away and began to stalk off, growling as her fur bristled in anger. She had never walked away from a potential fight before but knew she was in the wrong. The other she wolf could have the silly deer anyway, it wasn't like she was actually hungry. Karvine's belly rumbled again and she growled louder, seething and still not taking in the arrogant grin that had appeared on the wolf's maw.

Yami watched the other creature go and sniffed as she stood alone once more beside her prey. She sat down to digest her food and half a half decent sleep for once. Yawning, she set down her head beside her large paws and shut her almond shaped eyes and tried to empty ll thoughts of the day from her head.

Karvine padded on, anger burning away, the further she travelled. Her tail flicked back and forth, twitching occasionally, the only outward sign that she was still angry and her face was emotionless. She passed the grand oaks in all their icy splendor and paused, sliding slightly on icy ground as a scent reached her nose.
Karvine sniffed more deeply and realised that the animal was heading in her direction. It smelled quite important and sounded big from the steady thump of its feet on the twig strewn ground. She turned tail and loped towards the other kill by the wolf she'd met on wrong terms. Hoping she was still there, Karvine stopped again and sniffed the air. The deer still hadn't picked up her scent and was still travelling.

kyaserineokami let out a long soulful howl waiting for a response. she is the youngest wolf in the area not knowing if the other wolfs around her would notice her, kill her or what she desired the most to be accepted by the others
